Technology Team

The Critical Choices Technology Team is made up of members of the NIU eLearning Services staff as well as representatives from the Curriculum Team. This group used the latest instructional design techniques and technology to adapt the original face-to-face curriculum to an online environment.

Other areas of responsibility included developing online orientation materials, writing documentation to support facilitators and constructing an online Resources Center that allows the local licensee to customize to the area resources.

Facilitator Materials

Facilitator Manual

The Facilitator Manual has been developed to assist facilitators new to the Critical Choices course. It includes instructions on how to use the website, how to prepare for a course session, and tips for facilitating an online course.

The Manual's Appendix is comprised of helpful job aids including:

• Step-by-step instructions on how to do critical tasks
• Facilitator Checklist (tasks to complete prior to class)
• PC Skills Assessment (test to determine student readiness for an online course)
• Student Orientation Lesson Plan
• Sample Class Schedule
• Tips on appropriate netiquette
